🏙 TikTok Launches Offline Ads

Plus: 🌐 Predicting Personal Info, 🌆 NYC Mayor is Using Deepfake

🏙 TikTok Takes Advertising to the Streets

TikTok is not just a mobile app anymore. It’s now a giant advertising platform that can reach you wherever you go.

TikTok has launched a new solution called Out of Phone, which lets brands run their ads on different screens outside of phones, such as billboards, kiosks, cinemas, and more.

Some of TikTok’s partners, like Adomni, Dive, GSTV, and others, have already started using this solution. Brands can create a campaign on TikTok and then spread it to other platforms for more exposure.

This move is part of TikTok’s efforts to improve its ad functionalities and measurement capabilities.

TikTok wants to be more than just a social media app. It wants to be everywhere you look.

🌐 ChatGPT and Major AI Models Can Guess Personal Details from Anonymous Texts

Have you ever wondered what AI models can learn from your texts?

Well, you might be surprised (or terrified) to know that they can figure out a lot of things about you, even if you try to hide your identity.

A new study shows that AI models from some of the biggest tech companies can guess your race, location, and profession with high accuracy, just by reading some harmless data.

The study says that these Language Models are so good at inferring personal data that they can do it at a scale never seen before, with 85%-95% accuracy.

For example, a model could tell that you are Black just by knowing that you live near a certain restaurant in New York and using some statistics about the local population.

Imagine scammers using these AI models to extract personal details from public texts and target you with phishing or fraud.

🌆 NYC Mayor Eric Adams Stuns City with Deepfake Revelation

NYC Mayor Eric Adams has been using AI to deepfake himself.

Adams casually dropped this bombshell at a press conference, leaving everyone stunned.

The city has been sending these AI robocalls since March 2022, but without any disclaimer that they’re artificially generated. So, New Yorkers are left thinking their mayor is fluent in Spanish, Mandarin, and Yiddish.

The robocalls were developed using Voice Lab by Eleven Labs.

The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP) has called this move “deeply unethical” and “Orwellian.” They’re also critical of the city’s other uses of AI, including facial recognition.
