Google CEO Sundar Pichai's Bank Account Goes "Quarter-Billy" After Massive Payday
Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, recently received a compensation package worth a whopping $226 million. This payday comes at an awkward time, with Google having laid off 6% of its workforce just last year.
Pichai, who assured staff that executives would face pay cuts after the layoffs, has received a performance-based equity grant of around $210 million. It contains two tranches with a value of roughly $63 million each, in addition to another $84 million in restricted stock units.
The pay package could climb even higher based on Google’s share price, which remains up some 55% since the end of 2019. Most of Alphabet's other top executives made out with $22 million to $35 million. But with a union in place, Google's top earners might want to keep the party to a minimum, especially with the company having recently laid off 12,000 employees. Who knew being a tech CEO could be so lucrative?

Humane's Latest Innovation Proves We're One Step Closer to Living in a Sci-Fi Film
Humane has finally decided to reveal something! After raising $230M from big-time investors, the startup's Chairman, Imran Chaudhri, has given us a sneak peek into their new AI-powered wearable. And let me tell you, it looks pretty darn neat.
This baby doesn't need a phone to operate and can use voice inputs and gestures to display information by projecting it onto nearby surfaces. During his TED Talk, Chaudhri demonstrated how the device could even translate your voice into another language, like French. Sacré bleu!

And that's not all - he also showed off how he could answer a call from his wife, with the call information appearing as a green image projected onto his hand. As an ex-Apple employee responsible for all initial UI and interaction designs, Chaudhri knows what humans want. Can't wait for this product to hit the market!

Netflix’s ad-supported business is stronger than expected
Netflix's ad-supported plan is proving to be a real money-spinner for the company, generating more revenue per member than its standard, ad-free plan. While the streaming giant keeps quiet on the exact numbers, insiders say it's adding new perks to the cheaper ad-supported option to woo viewers. Netflix's CFO, Spencer Neumann, said they were "pleased" with the per-member ad plan economics, although he didn't give any specifics.
Meanwhile, Netflix's Basic with Ads tier, which launched at $6.99 per month, is improving its video quality from 720p to 1080p and allowing subscribers to watch two streams simultaneously. Netflix is still in the "crawl" stage of its advertising roadmap, but insiders predict advertising will eventually drive at least 10% of total company revenue. The move puts Netflix in direct competition with Disney+, which has already launched an ad-supported service.
