๐Ÿ’š $1.3 Billion Success Sparks HPE's Sales Sustainability Training Drive

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is proving that being eco-friendly is good for business.

They have been working on making their business more sustainable and helping their customers do the same for a long time.

But last year they realized that deals involving sustainability concerns drove $1.3B in new contracts in 2022. Thatโ€™s four times more than what they made in 2018.

After learning about this, they launched a training program to teach their sales force how to sell green solutions.

Nearly 2,500 employees completed the training by July, and now their entire Sales team is trained on sustainability and carbon emissions.

They are also walking the talk when it comes to their own operations. They have set an ambitious target to cut their emissions by 70 percent by 2030, compared to 2020 levels.

๐Ÿ”Š Amazon's Alexa Fell Short

Alexa. Alexa. Alexa.

Amazon has spent billions on Alexa and basically created a whole new market for voice-activated devices from under the noses of Google and Apple.

But what has it gained from it? Not much, really. Itโ€™s still a low-margin business that barely makes a dent in Amazonโ€™s revenue.

And then like everyone else, it missed the boat on large language models, until OpenAI showed the way.

Alexaโ€™s division has been hit hard by the recent cost cuts implemented by the new CEO Andy Jassy, who slashed some 27,000 jobs across the company.

Now the head of the group David Limp is also leaving, marking the latest departure of a longstanding top executive since Andy Jassy took over as CEO two years ago.

๐ŸŽถ Music Meets AI on YouTube

Music made by AI and not humans had been on the rise on Youtube recently.

This raises some questions: who owns the rights to the music? How can the creators get paid?

This is why Youtube is kicking off a Music AI Incubator in partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG), one of the biggest record labels in the world to figure out these issues.

A group of musicians will help YouTube with their experiments and research on generative AI. These musicians will also get to use AI to create new music and explore new possibilities.

Youtube is working on improving its system that can identify and manage the rights of the content on its platform.

They are also updating their policies on uploading manipulated content, such as deepfakes or remixes, and detecting videos that violate these rules using generative AI tools.
