đź“š Fake Books Flood Amazon and Goodreads with Popular Author Names
Scammers are using the names of popular authors to sell fake books on Amazon and Goodreads.
These books were filled with either junk or AI-generated content. They were meant to deceive unsuspecting readers and make money from Amazon’s algorithm, which rewards quantity over quality.
Author Jane Friedman who noticed her name being used tried to report these fake books and get them removed. But despite her complaints, both Amazon and Goodreads resisted removing the fake titles until her complaints went viral on social media.
It’s not easy for authors to take down these falsely attributed books, and the process can be complex and frustrating. Not to mention, fraudsters can easily create new accounts and upload new books.
This is a serious problem that affects the credibility and reputation of authors, as well as the quality and integrity of the publishing industry.
It’s also unfair to the readers, who deserve to get what they pay for and not be misled by fake books.
First Tourists Reach the Edge of Space and Return Safely
Virgin Galactic has just made history by sending its first tourists to the edge of space and back.
Passengers include a mother-daughter duo and an 80-year-old Olympian who purchased his ticket 18 years ago.
The flight, called Galactic 02, lifted off from Spaceport America in New Mexico and took the three passengers to 55 miles above Earth's surface where they experienced weightlessness as they looked out of the ship's many windows into space.
Virgin Galactic is not only making dreams come true but also making money from its space tourism business. The company reported a revenue increase of more than 400% from last year, thanks to its commercial spaceflight endeavors.
Space tourism is definitely an exciting and promising field. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll all get to experience it for ourselves.
Canadians Turn to Credit Cards to Fund Unforgettable Travel Escapes
Inflation is hitting Canadians hard, but they’re not letting it get into their travel plans.
According to a survey by FlightHub Group, almost half of Canadians (48%) have made sacrifices to their essential spending, such as groceries, to satisfy their wanderlust.
But not everyone can afford to travel without some help. That’s why 28% of Canadians who can’t pay for their trips upfront have used credit cards to finance their adventures.
57% of Millennials and 69% of Gen Z have also reduced their non-essential expenses, such as eating out or going to concerts, to save up for travel.
And who can blame them? Travel is good for the soul, and sometimes you just need a break from reality.
