👁️ Using Eyeball Scans to Distinguish Humans from AI Online
Sam Altman wants to scan your eyeball.
Why? It is to help build a reliable solution for “distinguishing humans from AI online,” enable “global democratic processes” and “drastically increase economic opportunity.”
Worldcoin, the startup founded by Sam has raised about $250 million and counts Andreessen Horowitz, Khosla Ventures, and Reid Hoffman among its backers.
Individuals can download World App, the startup’s protocol-compatible wallet software, and visit an Orb, the startup’s helmet-shaped eyeball-scanning verification device, to receive their World ID.
And by gaining a World ID, you can prove that you’re a human, not AI.
🎶 Spotify Implements First Price Hike in 12 Years
After 12 years, Spotify is finally increasing its price.
The Premium subscription in the US will be raised from $9.99 to $10.99 a month.
The company announced that the increase will help them continue to deliver value to fans and artists on their platform.
The cost of Duo, Family, and Student subscriptions will also increase. Existing subscribers will get a one-month grace period before the new pricing takes effect.
Similar price increases are being made internationally. Spotify’s increase isn’t entirely unexpected considering every other major music streaming service has announced a price increase in recent months.
📝 TikTok Takes Aim at Twitter and Threads
Everyone copies TikTok, but now TikTok is rolling out text posts, just like Twitter (now X) and Threads.
The new content option will allow creators to share their stories, poems, lyrics, and other written content on the platform.
When you open the app’s Camera page, you will be able to choose from three options: photo, video, and text. Once you select the text option, you will be taken to the text creation page, where you can type out the content of your post.
You can add stickers to your text post, along with tags and hashtags. There’s also the option to choose from a variety of background colors.
Looks like TikTok is also trying to take a bite of the Twitter pie.
