đź’» Facebook Circulates AI Deepfake Promoting Fake Investment Opportunity

A deepfake video of UK money expert Martin Lewis endorsing an investment opportunity backed by Elon Musk has been circulating on Facebook.

But the footage is made with AI deepfake and the investment opportunity is a scam.

Lewis, who never appears in adverts to endorse third-party products or services, is livid about the deepfake.

He’s been campaigning for proper regulation of scam adverts for years and even sued Facebook for inaction over scam ads carrying his image.

The deepfake video is an example of the AI-generated misery that’s fast accelerating onto our screens thanks to developments in synthetic media. And they are only going to get better.

📱Apple Tackles Exploitative Lending Apps in India

Apple has kicked out some nasty lending apps from the App Store in India.

The apps were promising quick loans to people who needed money, but they were also charging crazy fees. Users also said they were harassed and blackmailed by the lenders.

Apple confirmed that it had removed the apps, saying they violated the Apple Developer Program License Agreement and guidelines. The apps were also “falsely representing an association with a financial institution.”

The problem of predatory lending apps is not new in India. It’s linked to the growing use of smartphones and the lack of access to regular financial services for many people. The COVID-19 pandemic has made things worse, as many people lost their jobs and income.

Google, which runs the Android store, has also faced this issue in India. It has worked with the Indian central bank to crack down on these apps, and make them more transparent and fair.

Google has some great news for those of us who work from multiple locations!

Google is now giving users the option to specify where they’re working from for specific portions of the day.

Imagine being able to let your calendar know that you’ll be working from home in the morning and heading to the office in the afternoon.

This feature will make it easier for your co-workers to know where you are at any given time, making it easier to reach you or set up a meeting, whether it’s in-person or virtual.

The feature is just rolled out and is available on several Google Workspace tiers. To set your working location, simply select the “Working Location” option as an event type in your calendar and choose a location. From there, you can modify the date, time or reoccurrence by clicking on the time element.

So, if you’re on one of the eligible tiers, go ahead and give it a try!
