📉 ChatGPT’s Traffic Takes a Dive: Worldwide Traffic Drops 9.7% in June
It looks like ChatGPT’s traffic growth is finally coming back down to earth.
After months of skyrocketing growth, worldwide traffic dropped 9.7% and unique visitors were down 5.7% in June.
So it seems that Google can breathe a sigh of relief, as ChatGPT is no longer on track to become the most-trafficked website in the world.
But it’s not just ChatGPT that’s seeing a decline. Another AI chatbot site, Character.AI, also saw its traffic volume fall by 32% in June. And visitor engagement with ChatGPT, as measured by minutes per visit, is dropping too.
In any case, it seems that the novelty of AI chat has worn off and chatbots will have to prove their worth from here on out.
☢️ Japan's Plan to Dispose Radioactive Water from Fukushima into the Ocean
Japan has 1.3 million metric tons of radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear disaster and is planning to dump it into the ocean.
Japan has been storing the water in tanks for 12 years, but it is running out of space.
The water is contaminated with tritium, a radioactive form of hydrogen that is difficult to remove. Japan says it can filter out most of the other contaminants and that it will dilute the water so much that the tritium will be harmless.
The water will be treated, stored, tested, and diluted before being released into the ocean over several decades.
Japan says it is following international rules and that the ocean can handle it. But some experts say the water might still harm the fish and the people who eat them.
