🧠 Brain-Monitoring Tech in the Workplace: Companies Could Monitor and Hire Workers Based on Neural Data

In the future, companies may use brain-monitoring technology to watch or hire workers, according to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

In four to five years, the ICO suggests that neurotechnology may be routinely deployed in the workplace for safety, productivity, and recruitment.

Bosses might use it to assess how individuals react to workplace stress. They can also be used to measure the attention and focus of an employee in high-risk environments.

The technology itself could be biased, giving incorrect answers when analyzing certain groups. Neurodata is subconsciously generated and people have no direct control over the specific information which is disclosed.

So, can you really consent in advance to the processing of that personal data about you? The ICO hopes to complete new neurodata guidance by 2025.

đź’° Reddit's New API Fees Leave Developers Reeling, Resulting in App Closures

Reddit is shaking things up with a new API policy starting July 1st. They’re charging developers of third-party apps some pretty hefty fees.

So hefty, in fact, that many popular apps like Reddit is Fun, Sync for Reddit, Apollo, and ReddPlanet are shutting down.

Take Apollo for example. This iOS-exclusive app said they’re being forced to shut down operations because the new pricing would make them pay over $20 million per year.

Reddit had previously said they don’t want to restrict API access for third-party apps. But with this new excessive pricing for small-time developers, it’s making it impossible for them to continue.
