After a decade of stops and starts, Apple has reportedly ended work on its electric car project. It will shift some of the staff to work on generative AI projects while laying off others.
Project Titan, which had been in development for 10 years, was originally going to be a car with a luxurious limo-like interior and robust self-driving capabilities. Its ambitions were scaled back after multiple changes in direction and leadership. Microsoft recently announced a multiyear partnership with a French AI startup called Mistral. The partnership aims to bring Mistral's AI models to market and involves the companies collaborating on R&D for government applications in Europe. Microsoft will invest an undisclosed amount into Mistral as part of the agreement. Mistral is the second company to provide LLM services on Microsoft Azure. Read more.
