AI Takes the Wheel: WPP and Nvidia Showcase Automated Ad Creation
WPP, the biggest ad agency in the world, is teaming up with Nvidia for a full-on AI makeover. They’re hoping to churn out a ton of content for way less money. The push for AI-generated ads could mean fewer humans in commercial production and more work for a handful of creatives.
WPP is getting Nvidia on board (who just hit a $1 trillion market cap thanks to AI) to give their creative teams access to generative AI tools and infrastructure. These tools can pull images from databases like Adobe and Getty Images.
With AI, WPP hopes to create full ad campaigns “more efficiently and at scale” - meaning quicker, cheaper, and a whole lot more of it.
So what does that actually look like? A demo from Nvidia’s CEO showed an AI-generated car driving through a desert that could be placed in different cities or terrains with just a few clicks. To WPP and Nvidia, that means a bunch of commercials can be created for different regions using the car as a template. And if you want to customize that content for different socials, the AI can do that too.

Should We Focus Equally on AI Extinction Risk as on Pandemics and Nuclear War?
Some big shots in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) are teaming up to sound the alarm on the dangers of runaway AI. We're talking about heavyweights from Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic, among others. They all got together and signed a joint statement drafted by the Center for AI Safety, a nonprofit organization.
Now, this statement is super short, just 22 words, but it packs a punch. “Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war.”
But not everyone is on board with this doom-and-gloom scenario. Yann LeCun from Meta (you know, Facebook’s new name) thinks superhuman AI is not a big deal compared to other threats. He tweeted that it’s “nowhere near the top of the list of existential risks.

Elon Musk Explores Expansion Opportunities in China, Meets with Foreign Minister
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, recently met with China’s foreign minister in Beijing. The meeting was to discuss Tesla’s business in China, where they have their most productive car factory and plan to build their next battery plant.
The foreign minister assured Musk that China is committed to improving the business environment for foreign companies like Tesla. Musk was all for expanding business in China and even described the U.S. and Chinese economies as “conjoined twins.”
Interestingly, Musk, who is a self-described “free speech absolutist” and owner of Twitter, hasn’t tweeted since landing in China where Twitter is widely banned.
